Review: Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a KitchenAid mixer, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks). She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O.
Adding insult to O-less, since her move, she has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Each moan, spank, and–was that a meow?–punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has, yep, you guessed it, no O.
Enter Simon Parker. (No, really, Simon, please enter.) When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Their late-night hallway encounter has, well, mixed results. Ahem. With walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick…
In her third novel, Alice Clayton returns to dish her trademark mix of silly and steamy. Banter, barbs, and strutting pussycats, plus the sexiest apple pie ever made, are dunked in a hot tub and set against the gorgeous San Francisco skyline in this hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight.
My thoughts (Theo): This book! Oh. My. God! This book was mind-blowing! It was fun, wack, amazing and totally hot!! It simply made me go crazy about it! I just couldn’t stop myself from reading it; it was like it was whispering into my brain: Keep going, keep going! And I was not disappointed not for even only one bit!
This book! Holy. Mother. This book!
Caroline Reynolds is a strong, independent woman with everything she ever wanted: a nice new shiny place to live in, an awesome job with an extremely awesome boss and sort-of-best-friend, a nice cat [Mr. Clive – a super-smart cat, I might add] and a future! Where’s the problem? Well, there seem to be none, except for the fact that she is single! S.I.N.G.L.E.
But how could she! Because she is also beautiful, trust worthy and extremely nice with compliments. She knows that she is not smoking-hot, but she is “cleaning-up nicely” as she says. And it is true! She is also confident and someone worth caring for, yet she is single! No biggie there, ones might say. That’s what I thought, anyway!
She just moved to this super-nice new apartment that her boss sold to her and she is very happy in there. She has everything, except for one thing: peace! Her first night there is a total disaster as she encounters something unusual: a wallbanger! Wait; do not think about someone punching his fists through the wall, no way! Someone having wild, crazy, hot sex that the need of moving the bed is so intense that he is actually pumping up her wall! Until even a photograph from the wall lands right in her head! He is that awesome apparently and he knows it, since he is having a harem?
What??? Exactly! You read me right! He is having not one, not two, but three girls he is having sex with right on the other side of the wall – her wall! Now this is crazy! Yet, somehow she endures his night escapades until she is reaching her limit and she has to do something! So she is doing something! Walking on his front door, banging in it and waiting for a reaction, any reaction. And what a reaction she gets! He comes outside, almost naked and awesomely hot! He is sex on legs!
Simon is a photographer, a real well-known photographer, living in a nice apartment, having three beautiful creatures he can satisfy his needs with and super-hot! What he does not know is that the walls are extremely thin apparently and he so not keeping his voice or his companions voices down! But, somehow, his new neighbour is so hot and so beautiful when she is angry that she is instantly making him even harder!
They are totally opposites somehow, but way too attracted one to each other, that even when they are trying to put a “no-noise” pact between them. And it works. For a while. Everything gets even stranger when they find out that they have best-friends in common and even funnier when their best-friends [two girls versus two guys] fall in love! Now we are talking!
Everything from here is a rush of adrenaline, laugh, fun moments, breaking-heart times and really well written! They start to have feelings for each other, but with a missing O and someone who is insatiable things fall into place quickly and strong! And how strong!
This book is awesome! Totally worth it and nice to read! It makes you laugh, it makes you blush, and it makes you read it until the end! I recommend it to everyone who wants a break from the outside world and enjoy a nice, classic romance with beautifully written characters and funny replies!
I offer this book: 5 / 5 stars!
Happy reading, everyone!
