Review: Opal

Lux #3

By Jennifer L. Armentrout

Description: No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it.

My thoughts (Theo): I have just finished this book right on 2013, so it is still freshly happening in my mind and I am a little bit freaked out!!

Right now I am truly like this:

Because I truly believe it all has been an ugly nightmare!!! How could everything happen like that?

I still cannot recover from the shock, but I am trying to survive! You call that an ending?!?

“I love you, Katy. Always have. Always will.”

Anyway, back to the point *sigh*, I really loved this book! It was so well-written and making me feel like I was on the book like everyone else, more like some sort of a ghost that was always pushing shamelessly Katy in Daemon’s arms. But no one got to know that 😀

“A slow, wry smile teased Daemon’s lips. “Simmer down, Kitten, before I have to get you a ball of yarn to play with.”
Annoyance flared deep inside me. “Don’t start with me, jerk-face.”

Blake is back on the scene apparently and he is preparing a huge come back for his luxen: Chris. Whom would have had thought? Yeah, I have not, but that did not made me less feverish when it came to the end!

Oh. My. God. I know, but everything is still circling the end in my head, making me all sad and creepy, like some old hag crying her eyes out because I couldn’t keep my eyes from watering like fools.

“Dawson shifted, dropping his head into his hand. “Do you ever stop talking?”
“When I’m sleeping,” Blake replied.
“And when you’re dead,” Daemon threw back. “You’ll stop talking when you’re dead.”
Blake’s lips thinned. “Point taken.”

They all try to break into the DOD so they can free Chris and Beth! You heard me! Beth – like in Dawson’s girlfriend that we kind of met up on the last book. Dawson’s back and everything he ever wanted since getting back was to get her back! He is persuading everyone to let him go and find Beth – live happily ever after. But, of course, no one is willing to give him up! He just got back for crying out loud!

“Kitten…” “Don’t Kitten me.” I scowled, on a roll now. “You left around five or so and didn’t get back till when? Past two in the morning? What were you guys doing? And get that stupid smile off your face. This isn’t funny.” Daemon tried to get rid of the smile but failed. “I love when your claws come out.”
“There was a pause, then his lips stretched into a smile. “You’re right.”
Hell froze over. Pigs were flying. “Come again?”
“You’re right. I should have checked in at some point. I’m sorry.”

The world was flat. I didn’t know what to say. According to Daemon, he was right about 99 percent of the time. Wow.”

So imagine my “shock” when they all agreed to Blake’s plan of rescuing Beth and Chris from the holy compound of DOD! Right from their nose! Of course something might go BAD!

But how bad it will go, or will not go, you kind of have to read it for yourself! I hate to smash an awesome ending even though it made my brain go burnt for days!

Back to the story: Dawson is no more and more like a normal hum luxen again, gaining his power to smile little by little, talking to our Kitten as if she is the only one that gets him, and she truly is in a way. Dee is not speaking with Katy, ignoring her, making her feel as bad as an empty can – trashed somewhere near the recycle bin! But things get to some sort of a breaking point little by little.

“His eyes searched mine. “Thank you.”

“For What?” I loved the feel of his arms around me and how I fit against him, hard against soft. He trailed his fingers over my arm, and I was amazed by how he could make me shiver.

“For everything,” he said.”

Daemon and Katy’s relationship is getting even stronger now, making them feel like two awesome teenagers that can overcome everything: smashing the truth right into their faces at the end! It makes you feel so good and fluffy while reading their love, while feeling somehow their connection, making your skin crawl for some sort of a hug and a patting on your head, feeling loved.

“I have the feeling we just made a deal with the devil, and he’s going to come back and want our first-born child or something.”
Daemon waggled his brows. “You want kids? Because you know, practice makes–”
“Shut up.” I shook my head and started walking.”

It makes you feel it right through the pages, as if everything is so easy and wonderful… but it is not! Nothing seems what it should! Trust no one, ringed in my ears for hours after I finished the book! I kind of went into some sort of a personal lockdown for a few hours, mainly just to be able to process everything!

It was mind-blowing! Making my brain to wish for more and more! Making me so sad at the thought I have to wait for the net one for so long!

I totally give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

And at the end of the book I was like this for the author:

And I truly hoped for someone to pop in and tell me this:

And I would have been like: Oh~ You~ So not true~

Happy reading everyone~!
